Protein Pizza Dough
This Protein Pizza Dough Recipe is the most simple and healthiest recipe I have tried. It is made with Greek Yogurt and there is no yeast so you can start baking it as soon as your done mixing the ingredients. It’s fast and nutritious.

Story behind the recipe
Have you ever walked down the frozen food isle looking for something that’s quick and easy but everything you find is not very healthy? I’ve been there done that! The pizza isle especially. When I started trying to make my own pizza I just couldn’t find one I liked. Most of them had yeast and I had to prep it hours before I was ready to cook. Others didn’t rise very well, some burnt on the bottom and didn’t cook on the inside, while others just tasted like baking soda. When I found this recipe, I was HOOKED!
The recipe is basically unmodified from the version found but I have incorporated my own homemade Greek Yogurt and homemade baking soda instead of the store-bought ones. I also use Baja Gold Salt for added minerals. I will also have the original source linked down below.
Ingredients
- 1 Cup self-rising flour (or 1 cup all-purpose flour + 1.5 tsp Baking Powder + 1/4 tsp Salt)
- 3/4 Greek Yogurt (Plus 1-2 Tbsp is needed)
- 1/4 Salt
Instructions
Making the Dough:
- If you do not have self-rising flour, you can make your own by mixing all-purpose flour, baking powder and salt.
- Combine your self-rising flour, greek yogurt and salt together in a medium mixing bowl. I usually coat my hand in flour to fully incorporate the mixture it into a dough ball. The dough will be slightly sticky so make sure you have flour on your hands at all times when working the dough.
- If the dough is to wet add more flour. If it is to dry add more greek yogurt.
- Lightly sprinkle the counter and the dough ball with flour to avoid it sticking when rolling it out to the desired shape. I have rolled it out to fit on a cookie sheet and also rolled it into a circle to fit on a pizza pan so you can roll it out into any shape you would like. Also make sure you roll it out to your desired thickness. I roll mine out to be about 1/4 inch thick.
- Lightly flour or place parchment paper on your cookie sheet or pizza pan to avoid it sticking to the pan.
- Move the flattened pizza dough to the cooking sheet.
Adding your toppings/bake:
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
- Add your pizza sauce, and toppings before baking.
- Bake for about 20 minutes or until the cheese and crust is golden brown. Rotate the pizza in the oven half way through to ensure even cooking.
- When you remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes and enjoy!
My favorite pizza is a taco pizza!!
Cook ground beef and onions in a medium skillet, drain grease and add salsa to the ground beef as the “pizza sauce”. Put the ground beef mixture on your freshly made pizza dough, top it with mozzarella cheese and bake. Once you pull it out of the oven add diced tomatoes and lettuce on top. Cut, serve and enjoy!
Play around with the toppings!! What you think wont taste good on a pizza, may just be your favorite combination. Don’t be afraid to get it wrong. Be original, try something new!
Let me know in the comments what your favorite toppings are.

Protein Pizza Dough

Don't have time to let the dough rise? This is a simple and easy 30-minute recipe that the whole family will enjoy!
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Self-Rising Flour (Make your own self-rising flour: 1 cup All-purpose flour + 1.5 tsp Baking Powder + 1/4 tsp salt)
- 3/4 Cup Plain Greek Yogurt
- 1/4 tsp Salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Add the self-rising flour, plain greek yogurt, and salt to a mixing bowl. (If you don't have self-rising flour you can make your own by mixing all-purpose flour, baking powder and salt)
- Combine all the ingredients together. I start by using a wooden spoon, but I finish incorporating it into a dough ball by using floured hands. (if dough is to wet, add more flour. If it is to dry, add more greek yogurt)
- Once it's all been combined, cover the dough ball with flour and lightly dust a flat surface with flour.
- Transfer the dough ball to the floured surface.
- Roll the dough ball out until its about 1/4 inch thick. The shape you roll it out into will be determined by the baking dish you decide to use. Roll it into a circle if you are using a pizza pan or roll it into a rectangle if you are using a cookie sheet.
- Line your baking dish with parchment paper and transfer your pizza dough to the baking pan.
- Add your desired toppings to your pizza dough.
- Bake pizza in the oven for 20 minutes or until the cheese and crust get golden brown.
- Let the pizza cool for a few minutes, serve and enjoy!
Notes
- If you do not have self-rising flour, you can make your own by combining all-purpose flour, baking powder and salt.
- I use baja gold salt to add additional minerals to the dish. (Most store-bought salt is not good for us)
- I use the Yuka add to scan store bought foods to know if it's good for us or not. It will even explain which ingredients are good and bad.
- I usually make my own homemade greek yogurt, but The Greek Gods Plain Greek Yogurt is a safe store-bought option.
