Why Make Country Gravy Dry Mix?
When you’re camping, living the RV lifestyle or just have a busy life, we want quick, easy, and delicious meals without sacrificing flavor. Plus, you will know exactly what is in it because you made it. No risky additive surprises! This is one of my favorites because you can make this recipe in bulk, it has a long shelf life, and at the end of a long day it is a simple and easy, dump and go gravy recipe.
This pantry-friendly mix replaces canned gravy, reduces bulk, and simplifies your food system without heavy refrigeration. It’s a small-space, total-lifestyle staple you’ll actually use.
How to Make the Mix
Servings: 10 Servings = 1 cup of gravy per serving
Ingredients
- 2 Cups All Purpose Flour
- 1 Cup Powdered Milk
- 1/4 cup Cornstarch
- 1 TBSP Ground Black Pepper
- 1 TBSP Sea Salt
- 1 TBSP Onion Powder
- 1 Tsp Poultry Seasoning
Directions
- Combine all the ingredients together making sure they are all mixed well.
- Store in an airtight container. I like to use oxygen absorbers to help keep it stay fresh longer.
- Place the dry mix in a cool, dark and dry place until its needed.

How To Make the Gravy
Serving size: 1 cup of Gravy
Ingredients
- 2 TBSP Lard or Butter
- 3 TBSP of Homemade Country Gravy Mix
- 1 Cup of water or Milk
Directions
- Melt butter or lard in a small saucepan.
- Add homemade country gravy mix and stir until it is a paste.
- Slowly add the water or milk while stirring constantly to reduce the amount of clumps.
- Bring it to a slow boil until it reaches the desired consistency.
Note:
- If it is not thick enough, add more mix. If it’s too thick, add more water or milk.
- Servings: This Gravy recipe makes 1 cup of Gravy.

Our go to country gravy recipe for cheap, quick and easy gravy without all the risky additives.
Ingredients
- 2 cups Flour
- 1 cup Milk Powder
- 1/4 cup Cornstarch
- 1 Tbsp Black Pepper
- 1 Tbsp Salt
- 1 tbsp Onion Powder
- 1 Tsp Poultry Seasoning
- 2 Tbsp Lard or Butter
- 3 Tbsp of Homemade Gravy Mix
- 1 Cup of water or Milk
Instructions
To make the dry mix
- Combine the flour, powdered milk, cornstarch, black pepper, salt, onion powder, and poultry seasoning.
- Mix the ingredients until well combined.
- Store the Homemade Gravy Mix in an airtight container in a cool dark place. I like to put an oxygen absorber in the dry mix to make it stay fresh longer.
To make the mix into gravy
- Melt 2 Tbsp of lard or butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add 3 Tbsp of Country Gravy Mix. Stir until it becomes a paste.
- Gradually add 1 cup of water or milk. Use a whisk to make sure there are no lumps.
- Cook for 3 minutes while whisk continuously until it reaches the desired thickness.
Notes
- If the gravy is to thick add more water or milk. If the gravy is not thick enough, add more mix.
- This mix can be stored up to 6 months in the pantry or cabinet as long as it's being stored in a cool dark place, away from direct sunlight.
