This homemade burger seasoning is my go-to seasoning for all meat related foods. It can be used on burgers, stakes, meatballs, meatloaf, chicken, and more. It’s a very versatile seasoning and one of my favorites! It’s super easy to make and stores for months, so no need to worry about using it up right away.

My spice cabinet is probably the simplest I have ever seen. When I go to other people’s houses, they typically have a whole cupboard dedicated to just spices. Now, don’t get me wrong I really like to change up my flavor profiles. However, I have found that by having the basic (main) seasonings in your cabinet, you can make just about any favor profile that you can imagine.
That is why I am sharing how to make your own seasoning flavors from scratch. No need to go buy 100 different flavor combinations from the store, just make your own! Its super easy!
If you want to start making more things from scratch and turn your pantry into a from scratch household without all the overwhelm, you have come to the right place. Ingredients I Recommend and Make from Scratch
Some of the ingredients listed below are ones that I make from scratch or have a preference on which ones I buy. A lot of the seasoning at the grocery store have anticaking agents that I prefer not to consume so I am very picky about which ones I purchase.
I have read a lot of really bad things about most of the salt that is purchased from the grocery store. I did a TON of research and have found out that the best salt you can buy is Baja Gold Sea Salt. I will link it HERE so you can find it easily. This salt has a whole lot of minerals that our body needs on a daily basis. When using the right salt, it also helps you retain the water your drink and helps keep you hydrated.
Garlic and Onion Powder are the seasonings that I no longer buy at the store. With a dehydrator or a freeze dryer, they are SUPER easy to make at home.
- If you would like the Garlic Powder recipe, I will link it HERE.
- If you would like the Onion Powder recipe, I will link that HERE.
You can also make your own Paprika, Basil, and Parsley by getting the fresh pepper or plant and drying them at home in a dehydrator or freeze dryer. The dehydrator I purchased is HERE and the Freeze Dryer I purchased is HERE.

How to use this Seasoning
After making this seasoning I highly suggest taste testing it and imagining what would taste good with it. I originally made it to put on burgers but since then, I have been putting it on so many other things. Things like… stakes, meatloaf, meatballs, chicken, fajitas, chili.. and so much more!!
Don’t be afraid to get creative with it and try it on new things. You might be surprised at how well it pairs with other foods.
Storing this Seasoning
You will want to store this seasoning in an airtight container to keep it from drying out or getting moisture to it and clumping up. Here are the seasoning containers that I use.
If you want to make a bulk batch and save for later, you can absolutely do that! I would recommend putting it in a mason jar or mylar bag (like this one) and then seal it shut with an oxygen absorber (like this one) to make the freshness last longer. By storing it in bulk you are also saving yourself a lot of extra time by not having to mix more in a couple weeks.
